Crypto Index Weekly: AI and Privacy Led as Altseason Moved Closer
Roman Wiligut· Analyst and AI ResearcherWeeklyIndicesMarket
CI100 rose 2.93% and the AI index gained 9.17%. Altseason reached 65–66, still short of 75, while Bitcoin dominance held at 59.4%.
Weekly view. Crypto moved higher again, but this was not the kind of week when everything rose together. The broad market advanced, while most of the real momentum clustered in AI, privacy, DePIN and real-world assets. Altseason came closer than at any point this year, yet Bitcoin still held enough market share to keep the rotation incomplete.
| CI100 | Altseason | Fear and Greed | BTC dominance |

| +2.93% | 65–66 | 73 | 59.4% |
Market overview
CryptoIndex.ai’s broad-market CI100 rose 2.93% over seven days and 22.43% over 30 days. Its bullish reading stayed at 78%. In plain English, the market still had a clear upward bias, but the headline number hides a much more selective story underneath.
The largest assets held up well. CI10 gained 2.96%, almost exactly matching CI100. The next layers of the market were positive but slower: CI15, CI25 and CI50 added between 1.70% and 1.75%. CI Alts rose 2.67%. Money was moving beyond Bitcoin and the largest names, just not evenly enough to call it a full-market breakout.
How the major benchmarks compared
CryptoIndex.ai’s own baskets outperformed several widely followed public benchmarks during the same snapshot. CMC100 slipped 0.08%, CMC20 fell 0.16%, CCi30 declined 4.92%, Nasdaq NCI lost 3.51%, and CF Broad Cap fell 3.27%. The contrast is important, but it should not be read as a simple league table: these indices use different universes, weighting rules, price sources and update windows.
Sector benchmarks told a stronger story. SoSoValue DeFi gained 3.94%, Galaxy’s tracked basket rose 1.66%, Layer 1 added 3.69%, and the meme basket gained 3.46%. That pattern matches what appeared inside CryptoIndex.ai: the week rewarded specific narratives more than passive exposure to every large coin.
| Benchmark | 7 day change | What it captured |
|---|---|---|
| CI100 | +2.93% | Broad factor-weighted market |
| CI10 | +2.96% | Largest eligible assets |
| CMC100 | −0.08% | Large and mid-cap market |
| Nasdaq NCI | −3.51% | Institutional investable universe |
| CCi30 | −4.92% | Thirty-asset benchmark |
Sector leadership
AI was not merely the winner; it was in a different race. The CI AI index gained 9.17% for the week and 80.89% over 30 days. That is the clearest momentum signal in the current index set, but it also means expectations are already high. When a theme climbs that quickly, the next week becomes a test of whether buyers still have conviction or whether the move starts feeding on itself.
Privacy followed with an 8.44% weekly advance. DePIN rose 5.97%, real-world assets gained 4.92%, and DeFi added 4.27%. These were not random pockets of strength: all four sit at the intersection of a recognisable narrative and a measurable use case, which is exactly where capital tended to concentrate this week.
Infrastructure and ecosystem themes also performed well. Base rose 3.85%, perpetual DEX projects gained 3.54%, prediction markets added 3.42%, and Solana ecosystem assets rose 3.09%. Gaming was the only tracked thematic index to finish lower, down 0.66%. Even that requires context: the index remained up 57.03% over 30 days, so the weekly decline looked more like a pause than a collapse.
| Theme | 7 days | 30 days | Reading |
|---|---|---|---|
| CI AI | +9.17% | +80.89% | Strongest momentum |
| CI Privacy | +8.44% | n/a | Clear weekly leadership |
| DePIN | +5.97% | n/a | Infrastructure bid |
| CI RWA | +4.92% | n/a | Continued thematic demand |
| CI DeFi | +4.27% | n/a | Broad participation |
| CI Gaming | −0.66% | +57.03% | Weekly pause after strong month |

Altseason moved closer
The Altseason Index reached 65–66, its highest reading of the year. That is close enough to attract attention, but still below the 75 level normally associated with a confirmed altcoin season. The distinction matters. A score in the mid-sixties says participation is widening; it does not say that buying almost any altcoin has become a winning strategy.
This week looked like a selective altseason. AI, privacy and infrastructure ran hard, while the broader mid-cap baskets moved only modestly. A more durable shift would require the index to keep rising while Bitcoin dominance falls and strength spreads across CI25, CI50 and CI Alts. Until then, the better description is rotation, not euphoria.
Sentiment and market structure
The latest available Fear and Greed reading was 73, classified as Greed, and dated 6 October. That date matters: the feed had not yet caught up with the full week. Reddit Mood was much cooler at 49, or Mixed, with 81% of sampled discussion sitting in the mixed category. Prices were optimistic; the crowd was far less unanimous.
Bitcoin dominance was 59.4%, down 0.20 percentage points on the day but still up 1.15 points over 30 days. This is the main reason the altseason signal is not complete. Altcoins are gaining ground in selected areas, yet Bitcoin has not surrendered its structural lead.
Stablecoin dominance stood at 10.9%, up 0.2 points over seven days. Google Trends interest in crypto remained subdued at 12 out of 100, down three points week over week. The market is moving before mainstream attention has returned, a healthier setup than peak retail mania but also one with less automatic demand behind every rally.
Composition and rebalancing
CI100 is not a static top-100 list. It refreshes its composition and weights from a multi-factor model using more than twenty inputs, including size, liquidity, trading activity, volatility and data quality. CI10 remains the cleaner large-cap reference, while the thematic indices isolate individual narratives such as AI, privacy, DePIN, RWA and DeFi.
That difference helps explain why CI100 and CI10 could rise while several external broad-market benchmarks declined. The result reflects methodology as much as market direction. A factor-weighted index can reward liquid, resilient assets and reduce the influence of weaker names; a conventional market-cap basket answers a different question.
What to watch next
- Altseason confirmation. A sustained move above 75 would indicate that the rotation has broadened beyond the current thematic winners.
- Bitcoin dominance. A clearer decline from 59.4% would strengthen the case for a larger move into altcoins.
- AI follow-through. After an 80.89% monthly rise, momentum is undeniable, but the room for disappointment is also larger.
- Sentiment freshness. The Fear and Greed reading should be treated cautiously until the data feed updates beyond 6 October.
- Breadth. Continued gains in CI25, CI50 and CI Alts would be more convincing than another week dominated by two or three themes.
Bottom line
The market remains bullish, but it is not yet indiscriminate. AI, privacy, DePIN, RWA and DeFi carried most of the excitement, while the broader baskets advanced at a more ordinary pace. That is not a weakness by itself. Selective leadership is often healthier than a market where every token rises for the same reason.
The next confirmation is straightforward: the Altseason Index needs to move above 75, Bitcoin dominance needs to retreat, and the gains need to spread beyond the week’s obvious winners. Until that happens, the market is better described as a strong thematic rotation inside a still Bitcoin-led cycle.
